The epitome of bespoke comfort and timeless elegance, crafted by the esteemed Dudgeon of London. Remarkably, these armchairs are barely used, appearing almost as if they just left the workshop. They aren't just chairs; they're a testament to superior craftsmanship and individual style.
Dudgeon of London, established in 1947, has been a purveyor of exquisite, handcrafted furniture for over seven decades. With a commitment to traditional techniques and the finest materials, they've become synonymous with British luxury and timeless design. As their website states, "Dudgeon has been handcrafting sofas and armchairs in London for generations, committed to creating furniture of exceptional quality and lasting comfort. Even today, commissioning a bespoke piece from Dudgeon requires patience, with a lead time of 12 to 14 weeks. These Connaught armchairs, originally costing £8500 RRP excluding VAT, represent a significant investment in artistry and lasting quality.
Upholstered in sumptuous velvet, the armchairs exude opulence and tactile allure. The velvet's colour is a rich, gold brown chosen specifically to complement a discerning client's décor. The velvet's nap would catch the light beautifully, enhancing the armchairs' luxurious appearance.
The Connaught style, known for its elegant proportions and comfortable design, would be expertly executed by Dudgeon. Expect a generously proportioned seat, a gently sloping back, and subtly curved arms, all designed for exceptional comfort. The frames, crafted from high-quality hardwood, are built to last for generations.
These armchairs originally came from "The Whiteley" in London, a landmark undergoing a radical transformation to embody new luxury, emphasising balance and mindful living.
Owning a pair of these vintage Connaught armchairs is not just about owning furniture; it's about possessing a piece of history, a symbol of refined taste, and a testament to enduring craftsmanship. Their good condition, coupled with their Dudgeon pedigree and association with The Whiteley, elevates them to true collector's items. Caring for your items
Vintage period and original items, such as leather seating, will always have a natural patina in the form of cracking, creasing and wear.
We recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost and to keep out of sunlight.
For Hand-Dyed leather items, we don't recommend placing them in direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as they will dry out and fade.
For wood, we recommend regular, thorough cleaning and waxing also.
Care
To maintain the beauty and integrity of your purchase, we recommend treating it with care. Simple maintenance practices, such as gentle washing and proper storage, can effectively preserve the longevity of your favorites. We encourage you to refer to the care instructions included with each item, designed to help you keep your purchase in top condition.
Design
Our dedication to excellence extends beyond materials; it encompasses the artistry and craftsmanship illustrated in every piece we create.
